MINT CHOCOLATE GREEN SMOOTHIE

In my last post (see it here) where I reviewed Aduna World’s Moringa powder, I mentioned that with this great ‘beauty boosting’ green powder I whipped together an equally great green smoothie recipe. Here it is in all its glory, a festive themed mint chocolate green smoothie bowl. Now I am a great believer that if you like something foodwise it shouldn’t be seasonal, some people are very stuck in smoothies are just for summer, and porridge is for winter. Now don’t get me wrong I love a big bowl of warming porridge on a cold morning. But sometimes I just don’t fancy porridge, and on those days I normally have some kind of eggs or a green smoothie. So here I have created a smoothie bowl which combines a few of my favourite flavours, mint and chocolate. Mint chocolate always makes me think of christmas, I think its the after eights? Anyway here is the recipe for my festive themed mint chocolate smoothie bowl 🙂

Ingredients

  • 1 avocado
  • 1 banana
  • 1 scoop of green powder (I used Moringa powder)
  • 1 tbsp of yoghurt (I use coyo)
  • a splash of almond milk depending on how thick you like the smoothie
  • 1or 2 big handfuls of spinach
  • 1 small celery stick sliced
  • a few fresh mint leaves and extra for decoration
  • 1 tsp of raw cacao powder
  • Optional sprinkle of raw cacao nibs for that extra crunch

Instructions

  • Simply blend all ingredients apart from the spare mint and the raw cacao
  • Once a think creamy mixture has formed dust the top with raw cacao powder or nibs then the mint leaves
  • Enjoy x

BRUNCHING AT HUBBARD & BELL

Ohhh Hubbard & Bell, how I have fallen in love with you. Everything from the cute vintage looking plates, to the the cold pressed organic juices, the great menu and the beyond delicious brunch food. Yep its official I am in love.

So Hubbard & Bell was recently brought to my attention by someone who knows how much I love brunches- word is spreading! And boy am I glad they introduced me. Luckily for me being based in Holborn its the ideal spot for me to wonder down to on a lazy Sunday and grab a spot of food with some friends. That’s exactly what I did, last weekend Sunday came upon us and me and one of my closest friends (who also is a massive foodie) decided that this Sunday was in need of some great brunching. And what better time to explore Hubbard & Bell, so we mooched on down to what I would say was one of my favourite brunches in a while.

I was pleasantly surprised with the fact that Hubbard & Bell offers cold pressed juices on the menu as its House Press selection, and these juices are organic! Once I discovered this I knew I was in for a good brunch. So I decided to order a green juice which consisted of kale, apple, cucumber, celery, pineapple, lemon, spinach, parsley and ginger. Then I got a soya cappuccino and the avocado on sourdough with poached egg & pistachio. This combination of food and drink was honestly heavenly. The type of brunch which reaffirmed why I love Sundays!

The rest of the menu looked so great, they had sourdough pancakes, steak and eggs, ricotta fig honey seasalt and mint and many more great flavour combinations! I will be back soon to try out more of the menu because it all sounded and looked amazing. The atmosphere of Hubbard & Bell was also a lot of fun, the open kitchen attributed to this but the whole place had a great ‘buzz’. I will be returning, no doubt in my mind and if any of you are around Holborn and fancy a delicious breakfast then I highly recommend. Actually all the menus look great but the only one I can confirm is the breakfast, oh I guess that means I have to go back and try their lunch and dinner menus too…..damn!
